It’s never too late to work on our messy health. We all wish we would’ve done something before our bodies became so damaged from our actions. Or, at least done something before we started having kids and passing down a version of our health issues to them. But, you can’t focus on the “what ifs” or else you’ll never move forward today. Today is as good of a day as any to start making changes!

Messy Health, Don’t Care
I think one of the main things that paralyze us from making the changes we know we need to make is the fear of what others will think. However, you shouldn’t let the fear of people seeing your messy, imperfect health and life stop you.
Speaking of the fear of messy health being seen, I have a confession to make. I’m supposed to be the health professional here, yet I have a fungus that has broken out all over my body in the past year. Ever since I was a senior in high school, I’ve battled this fungus that causes spots of discolorations all over my skin. During my last pregnancy, the fungus came back with a vengeance. It has been two months since having my second, yet I’m still looking for answers for what the root cause may be.
I’m not this health “expert” that has it all figured out. I’m still learning, I’m still reforming my observations to the truth. I, even, still struggle with seasons of fatigue. And I’m actually dealing with prolapse right now after having a nearly 10 lb baby. I’m not in perfect health. I still get sick.
But there is hope. You just have to do the hard work to get your health back on track. Because my family and I have been working on our health, we don’t get sick too often. When we do get sick, it doesn’t last long at all (Praise God!) and symptoms aren’t as bad as they used to be.
What Can You Do?
So, all you have to do is to humble yourself and go to God with all of your messiness. As John said in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Though John is talking about salvation here, I believe that God is also faithful and righteous to bring us out of our diet and health sins – slothfulness, selfishness, lack of self-control, impatience, envy, pride, and so much more.
Just let go of whatever fear and guilt is holding you back from coming to the table now with the messy health you have. Come as you are and be messy with us.
Bible Verses to Encourage You
If you haven’t submitted your life and all that’s in it to Christ, then these verses are calling you to come as you are to Him. He is the only One who can pay our outrageous debt we owe God. If you have already submitted your life to Christ, these verses are a good reminder that He desires to be King over every area of your life. You can trust Him.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
“But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice. For the LORD your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them.”
Deuteronomy 4:29-31
“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13
I’ll leave you with this last passage…
“The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’”
Acts 17:24-28
